Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3 Chatham recently had one of their volunteers’ named Legionnaire of the Year for the District of Northumberland- Kent. Cathy Delong was pleasantly surprised when her name was announced as the recipient of this years award. Comrade Delong has dedicated many hours to the Chatham Branch 3 Legion through her volunteerism with the Legion Bingo, 50/draw which are weekly events, setting up the tables for functions, a Greeter for events hosted by the Legion, assisting in the Kitchen and any other tasking that my required by the branch.

The Miramichi Relay For Life organizing committee invites you to be part of the 18th Miramichi Relay For Life on Saturday, June 8, 2019. This year marks a change in venue for the Relay with all activities taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Park/Town Square and Kin Centre locations. The event will run from 5:00PM – 11:00 PM.

Beginning at 7pm, on Friday evening, May 10, 2019, come, bring a friend, a family member or yourself out to a night of upcycled fashion and fun at the Greater Blackville Resource Centre Fun Fashion Show to be held at the Voice of Hope Ministries, located at 12073 Route 8 Highway, in Upper Blackville. A fundraising event will be held at the Miramichi Folklore Park in Renous on Sunday May 5th from 2 – 6 pm to support Abby Keenan and Anna Sturgeon, who will represent Canada this summer in Braga, Portugal at the Dance World Cup. The event will feature several local singers and musicians. Abby and Anna will also showcase their talent by performing a few dance routines. There will be a bake sale, 50/50 and tickets for a Mother’s Day basket draw.

The 2019 / 12th Annual Miramichi Leadership Prayer Breakfast (formerly Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast) will be held on Friday, May 10th, 2019, from 7am to 9am, come out to the Rodd Miramichi River Hotel, located at 1809 Water Street, Miramichi East (former Town of Chatham). This year’s guest speaker is Guest Speaker is Cyndi Desjardins Wilkins from Trent Lakes, Ontario. Tickets for this year’s Prayer Breakfast are $20, and can be purchased at city hall, local churches, and Black Eagle Construction.

On Wednesday, May 1st, 2019, beginning at 5:30 pm, come bring yourself, a friend or a family member out to the North and South Esk Regional High School (N.S.E.R). Cafeteria, located at 40 Northwest Road in Sunny Corner, New Brunswick.

The proceeds from this event will go towards supporting six students from North and South Esk Regional High School (N.S.E.R.) who will be taking part in a special trip to commemorate the North Shore Regiment and the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The Rotary Club of Newcastle shares their highlights from the past year and upcoming projects! Since the charter of the club in 1943, members of the Rotary Club of Newcastle have dedicated time and effort to fundraising and volunteer activities in support of community projects and international endeavours – this past year was no exception!

The Rotary Club of Newcastle is gearing up for their annual RibFest, the weekend of May 24-26, 2019. This weekend event will take place in the downtown parking area in front of the library off Ledden Street. Running concurrently will be the city sponsored “Striper Cup” fishing competition, so the waterfront will be turned into a beehive of activity.

On Saturday evening, April 6th, 2019, beginning at 7 pm, come out the Théâtre Gilles Laplante at the Carrefour Communitaire Beausoleil, located in the former Town of Newcastle (Miramichi West), at 300 Beaverbrook Road for a Gospel Concert. The proceeds from this Gospel Concert will be going towards a very worthy cause to be announced that evening!

On Monday, April 15th, 2019, beginning at 7 pm, come out to the Tabusintac Community Centre, located in the Tabusintac Community School, at 66 Hierlihy Road, Tabusintac for the Tabusintac Old Home Week General Meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting, and just a note, for all you excited people – Old Home Week 2020 is not “official” until a discussion and a formal motion is made at this very first meeting and they are in need of volunteers greatly to make this event successful!!
