On Friday, July 26th, 2019, from 7 pm to 9 pm, come out to Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church Parish Centre, 12 Saint Patrick’s Drive in Nelson (Miramichi) for a Retirement Celebration for Father Joseph Arnold “Arnie” Hachey. Hosted by the parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Unit – Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Nelson (Miramichi), The Most Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Barnaby River and Saint Edward’s Roman Catholic Church, Chelmsford. Light snacks will be served, along with tea, coffee and juice.

The SRC is a non-competitive reading program offered through public libraries in New Brunswick. The goals of the club are to promote a love of books and reading and to encourage children to visit and use their public library.

The Miramichi Folksong Festival is set to celebrate it’s 62nd season August 4th to 9th in Miramichi. Canada’s longest standing Folksong Festival has something for everyone! Singer-songwriter Robert Ross is returning home to Miramichi to release his new CD. Born in Barryville, Miramichi, Robert is now based in Cairns, Australia. He shares his love of music with audiences in pubs, clubs, resorts, private functions and festivals throughout Australia and Canada. He has been busy writing and recording over the past year and is excited to be returning to the Miramichi to share his new CD of 10 original songs: It’s Never Too Late.

The 99.3 The River Summer Deck Series kicks off for the 2019 season on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019. The event is hosted by John O’Shea, and for 8 straight weeks, they will be featuring local and East Coast Country/Roots artists on the deck of 99.3 The River, located at 396 Pleasant Street in Miramichi (Newcastle).
Tickets for each event are only $5 and all you need to bring is your lawn chair. In the event of rain, the Summer Deck Series will be moved to the Club 10 – Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10, located at 20 Fountain Head Lane, above the Goodie Shop Restaurant.

The 3rd Annual Gospel Concert at the Saint James and Saint John United Church will be on Saturday evening, June 22nd, beginning at 7 pm. Featuring a variety of performers. Tickets are $10.

The MRC Theatre Festival is a community-based, fringe-style theatre festival to be held August 14 to 18, 2019 in Miramichi. The Miramichi River Community (MRC) Theatre Festival has begun planning its second year and has put out a call for writers to submit their works. These pieces can be scripts, short stories, poems, and can be in any genre. Scripts will be either performed as full productions or read by actors in script readings, short stories will either be read or adapted into short plays, and poetry will either be read or used as audio in physical theatre pieces. The deadline to submit pieces is July 1, 2019.

Creative Writing Workshops will be held at the Newcastle Public Library on Wednesday evenings, from June 12th to July 31st. This is a free weekly class for like-minded individuals to gather, discuss and write about interesting ideas, weird ideas, all the ideas! Open to all creative minds 16 years and up.

The Barryville Golden Age Club will be hosting their Annual Lobster Supper and Dance will be taking place on Saturday evening, June 8th, 2019. The supper begins at 6:30 p.m. with a dance to follow at 8:00 p.m. with music by Eastern Sound. Everyone is welcome to attend!

On Thursday, June 13th, 2019, come out to the Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 360 Newcastle Boulevard in Newcastle (Miramichi West) for the 12:05 p.m. noon mass for Father Antonio Reyes’ 35th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood Celebration and Birthday Celebration. Following the mass, everyone is welcome to a lunch in the basement of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
