Holiday and Christmas Traditions
The Holiday and Christmas Season is here!
Along the Mighty Miramichi region, there are many cultures and traditions for the holidays, and we’d love to hear what yours are!
Different families celebrate in a variety of ways depending on their cultural heritage and traditions passed down through generations or something new and unique to your friends and family!

Below are a few traditions from our staff at MCG Media
Anthony – I love participating in the preparation, serving and organizing of the Annual Seniors Christmas Dinner in partnership with the Newcastle (013718) Lions Club, Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi and Rotary Club of Newcastle yearly. It is a wonderful time as I get to see many friends and family who I may only get to see at this time of the year.
Stacy – In our family, Christmas isn’t complete until we’ve had mom’s carrot pudding. She uses a recipe passed down through generations from my Grandmother, and stems from our English and Irish roots. Carrot pudding is a steamed cake made with earthy spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and packed with shredded carrots, currants and raisins. It is served hot and covered with a white sugar sauce.
Giv’er Miramichi is about “What’s up, what’s new, what’s happening”. We are focused on building people up, supporting one another and celebrating our successes.
