Soup’s On Again In The Blackville Area
UPDATE as of March 13, 2020
In an effort to be cautious during this period of increased health concerns, a decision has been made by the Greater Blackville Resource Centre to postpone upcoming Soup’s On events, scheduled for Tuesdays until the end of April, in our local communities until further notice.
Soup’s On is a Greater Blackville Resource Centre (GBRC) project that offers Free Meals and community spirit throughout the greater Blackville area.
Various organisations and churches in the area take part by hosting a free community luncheon.
Lunches are every Tuesday from 11:30am to 1pm, starting February 18th and running for 10 weeks.
See schedule for dates and locations below and poster on the bottom of this Giv’er Post:
Tuesday, February 18th – Greater Blackville Resource Centre (GBRC) at Voice of Hope Ministries, Upper Blackville
Tuesday, February 25th – Saint Andrew’s United Church Hall, Blackville
Tuesday, March 3rd – Miramichi Folklore Park, Renous
Tuesday, March 10th – Knights of Columbus, Quarryville
Tuesday, March 17th – Saint Agnes Anglican Church, Gray Rapids
Tuesday, March 24th – Catholic Women’s League Hall, White Rapids
Tuesday, March 31st – Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church Hall, Blackville

The lunches are free, however donations are accepted at the door to help support the program.
This program is made possible with the assistance from community groups, volunteers, churches and students. GBRC thanks all of the organizers and volunteers for their partnership and enthusiasm, who have worked diligently on a minimal budget serving anywhere from 60-100 people a week.
The free luncheons are open to ANYONE and EVERYONE to come and have a meal and socialize.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to cook, serve, or organize, please contact one of the hosting organizations listed on the poster, or Joy Underhill at 843-9024.
Bring your friends, elders or someone that just needs to get out of the house and have a say with old friends or meet new ones!
The Anglican Parish of Derby and Blackville will be hosting on two occasions – Saint Agnes’ will be hosting on March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day!) and Holy Trinity ACW will be hosting on April 14.
If you are able to help out in any way – contact Valerie Stewart for the March 17 date and Sally Underhill for the April 14 date.
Come along, bring a friend or family.
The meal is free (but, if you would like to make a donation to the local food bank you can).
Think about bringing children and grandchildren – especially the week of March Break.
Visit with friends and neighbours over a delicious meal. The more the merrier!
