Wilson’s Point Historic Site and The Miramichi Scottish Heritage Association have proudly teamed with Tutta Musica to provide you a night of summertime magic as two ensembles: Miramichi String Quartet and East Coast Brass and the acoustics of the little church blend together with sweetness and sass. Spread the word far and wide of this classical ceilidh and come early as seating is limited.
Bring your lawn chair just in case. Coffee and Tea will be served at intermission.
Beginning Thursdays, July 4th, Fridays July 5th and Saturdays, July 6th, come out the Newcastle Public Library, located at 100 Fountain Head Lane, for a Summer Breakfast Program. Admission is FREE and this breakfast is open to Kids and Teenagers and will be held on those days from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

The Miramichi Senior Sawdustmakers (MSSI) are an active group of retired persons who have a goal: to provide a venue where senior men and women can safely pursue activity that is stimulating mentally, physically, and socially, by working with wood. The non-profit organization provides a workshop with the space and tools for a wide variety of woodworking activities such as carving, turning, cabinetry, and carpentry.

The Miramichi Boys and Girls Club strives to create opportunities and chances for kids from all walks of life. Children and youth from K – Gr 12 go to the Boys & Girls Club.
For some it’s attending evening programs that run throughout the school year. These are free programs. Each roster brings new themes and chances for kids to learn new skills, make new friends and try something new.
The 99.3 The River Summer Deck Series kicks off for the 2019 season on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019. The event is hosted by John O’Shea, and for 8 straight weeks, they will be featuring local and East Coast Country/Roots artists on the deck of 99.3 The River, located at 396 Pleasant Street in Miramichi (Newcastle).
Tickets for each event are only $5 and all you need to bring is your lawn chair. In the event of rain, the Summer Deck Series will be moved to the Club 10 – Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10, located at 20 Fountain Head Lane, above the Goodie Shop Restaurant.
The Newcastle Rotary Club is donating funds to help children improve literacy this summer. Last year Miramichi was the first city in New Brunswick to launch a city-wide campaign to reduce summer learning loss. This year Cradle to Career Miramichi is further enhancing their efforts and they are working with Frontier College to offer free summer camps for children who are struggling with reading.

This year marks the 350th anniversary of the establishment of Fortress Ste-Croix on the Northwest branch of the Miramichi, in 1669 by administrator, fur trader, and fisherman, Richard Denys. Le centre scolaire/communautaire Carrefour Beausoleil, in partnership with Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated and the Friends of Beaubears Island, plan to commemorate this event.

Camp Sheldrake is an overnight outdoor adventure summer camp for youth and teens that offers leadership building, hiking, archery, canoeing, arts and crafts and so much more. It is situated on 150 acres in Bartibog, boasts two waterfronts, several kilometers of woodland trails and overlooks the beautiful Miramichi River. This year it is celebrating it’s 20th year of existence.
