On Tuesday, September 18th, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., come out to the 23rd Annual Miramichi Salmon Association Conservation Dinner. It will be taking place at the Fredericton Inn, 1315 Regent Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick. On Monday, September 3rd, 2018 [Labour Day] come out to the Beaverbrook Kin Centre, 100 Newcastle Boulevard to the Labour Day Fundraiser for the Miramichi Community [Newcastle] Food Bank. Admission is a Cash Donation at the Door. Hosted by Susan Butler, this event kicks off at 12:00 pm noon with an Indoor BBQ and Bake Sale, with the Concert from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church Choir will be resuming after their Summer time sabbatical on Sunday morning, September 16th, 2018. Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church is located at 107 Main Street in the Village of Blackville, less than an hour from the City of Miramichi. As a part of their return from their Summer time sabbatical, they are welcoming new members to join their choir. Practices will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday evenings, with the first one being held on Thursday evening, September 16th, 2018.

The Annual Harvest Home Supper at the Saint Stephen’s United Church, located at 7970 Route 117 Highway in Black River Bridge, New Brunswick will be held on Labour Day, Monday, September 3rd, 2018. Tickets will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm and Meal will be served from 12:00 pm noon to 5:30 pm.
Rick Tiger returns to the Miramichi on Friday, August 31 at the Miramichi Folklore Park, 46 Memory Lane in Renous. The show starts at 7:00pm and features Blackville’s own Amelia Underhill and Wade Hallihan.

A repost from Brad Burns Fishing Report: Due to sufficiently cooler weather recently, DFO has opened up the listed cold water pools to salmon fishing on 4:00 PM this past Tuesday afternoon, August 21, 2018. I don’t know about other parts of the river, but I do know that in the general vicinity of the mouth of Cains, and the main stem of the lower Cains, that there have been a significant number of fish holding in the temperature buffered pools.

The Whooper Spring Players are hosting a PEI Kitchen Party on Saturday, August 25 at Saint Andrew’s United Church Centre in Blackville beginning at 7:00pm. Perry Batten and his friend Kevin from Prince Edward Island are both great singers/musicians and are looking forward to returning to our village to do a show. They were here about 5 years ago for a fun evening and express the desire to return to see all the folks again. Due to the short time-frame, there will be no meal offered. Cost of tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.
