Mark Hambrook Speaks about CAST Program.
This weeks guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Newcastle was the President of the Miramichi Salmon Association Mr. Mark Hambrook. Mark explained to our group how the association is working toward the preservation and enhancement of the wild Atlantic salmon through the Collaboration for Atlantic Salmon Tomorrow (CAST) program. Thanking Mark were Rotary members Stan Knowles and Jack Christie.
CAST is a partnership of scientists, environmental groups and industry participants. Their focus is saving wild Atlantic salmon before it’s too late. Currently they are working on four science projects on the Miramichi river, with the hope that CAST will serve as a positive partnership model for Eastern Canada’s wild Atlantic salmon rivers.
