Lumberjacks are Gathering in Boiestown for Lumberjack Festival at the Woodmen’s Museum
The Central New Brunswick Woodmen’s Museum, located in Boiestown, NB, will be hosting a two day “Lumberjack Festival” on August 19th and 20th, 2017. On Saturday, August 19th, competitors will be busy sharpening their axes and filing their cross-cuts for this one day Professional Lumberjack Competition; which portrays the “skill and technique” of this amazing Sport.
This competition will be Stop No. 6 sanctioned by the Maritime Lumberjack Association. Events begin at 12 noon. A BBQ will be available on site and the day will end with a traditional lumberjack supper (home baked beans, scalloped potatoes, and baked ham). Then, on Sunday, August 20th, “Be a Lumberjack”. Experience the thrill of the competition by trying your hand at the axe throw, cross cut, boom run, and log rolling. Trainers will be on site to coach you on these events.
Darren Casey (seven time Ironjack Champion and a Pro-Lumberjack Log Roller) and his 13-year old daughter Alyssa of Bedford, NS will be doing log rolling demonstrations all weekend. Alyssa competed in the 2017 Junior World Log Rolling Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin in July 2017, placing 5th overall. Alyssa is a World Ranked Logroller in the top 10 in the World.
The “Hot Saw” event will be a highlight of the day at the Woodmen’s Museum Professional Lumberjack Competition.
