New Brunswick, part of the Canadian Songwriter Challenge
Music • Musique NB (MNB) is presenting its third annual edition of the Canadian Songwriter Challenge, May 17 to 20 in St. Andrews.
The project pairs local and national songsmiths for a collaborative multi-day songwriting camp. The creative sessions will conclude with a Songwriters’ Circle, as part of the Paddlefest schedule.
New Brunswick artists Jane Blanchard (Fredericton), Ryan Hillier (Moncton), Lydia Mainville (Darling’s Island) and Owen Steel (St. Andrews) will collaborate with Nova Scotia’s Chris Luedecke (Old Man Luedecke) to create songs and share ideas on the songwriting process. MNB will also be offering interactive music industry sessions on revenue streams.
The Songwriters’ Circle will take place in the Van Horne Ballroom, at the Algonquin Resort (St. Andrews), Sunday, May 20th, at 2 pm. Admission is $10 at the door or free with a Paddlefest Weekend or Ultimate pass.
Held every May in St. Andrews, Paddlefest is a music and outdoor recreation festival with a community-minded approach. It combines music, art and outdoor adventures for a full weekend of activities. This year’s line-up include Joel Plaskett Emergency, Old Man Luedecke and Les Hay Babies.
The Canadian Songwriter Challenge is presented by Bell Media, in collaboration with the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations.
