Final Ice Storm Recovery Update from City of Miramichi
Wednesday February 1st, 2017 – Ice Storm Recovery Update
We are pleased to share that as of 6 pm last night the Emergency Operations Command Centre, which was activated shortly after the storm hit, had been stood down. That means for the City of Miramichi, the active event is over.
The water conservation advisory has been lifted.
All recreation programs and facilities are now reopened.
With a few homes still without power, and many more in our neighbouring communities and rural areas, we will keep our Golden Hawk Warming Centre open during the day until Friday. So from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm the Golden Hawk will still provide a place to keep warm, have something to eat, and a hot shower.
In regards to clean-up, residents can place their debris on the side of the road from today until Friday and Public Works crews will be around to pick that up. For those who are unable to do so at this time, a similar service will be available in the spring.
Thank you to everyone for their hard work, kindness, and community spirit through the past week.
Mayor Adam Lordon
