2016 Bruno Bobak Memorial Art Contest
The Miramichi Salmon Association’s (MSA) annual art contest has been renamed in honour of Bruno Bobak – one of Canada’s most important artists and avid salmon fisherman and supporter of the Miramichi.
The overall art contest winner for 2016 was Onika Gourdine-Mundell, a kindergarten student from Harkins Elementary School. Her submission was chosen by Bruno’s son, Alex Bobak, to receive the honour. Harkins Elementary received a framed Bruno Bobak print to display in their school. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries from all grades will be on display at the Doaktown Salmon Museum for the summer.
The 2016 contest was open to all schools and students from kindergarten to grade 8 throughout the Miramichi River Valley. Cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each grade level. One entry from all grade levels was chosen as the overall winner, and that student’s school received a framed Bruno Bobak print.
