National Peacekeepers Day in Miramichi
In celebration of National Peacekeepers Day, the Miramichi Chapter of Peacekeepers and special guests honoured fallen comrades with a parade and flag raising in the Queen Elizabeth Park, Newcastle, yesterday, Sunday August 9th.
Reviewing Officer for the event was Lieutenant General Louis Cuppens, CMM, CD (Retired) Former Deputy Commander-in-Chief of NORAD, who received a painting from Jo Thompson on behalf of the Miramichi Chapter for performing the role.
Master of ceremonies for the event was Roger Arsenault, Vice President of the Miramichi Chapter of Peacekeepers, who also received the Peacekeeper of the Year Award for Miramichi Chapter. Roy Matheson received the Miramichi Chapter Builder Award and Norman Gallard received the Canadian Peacekeepers Veterans Association Peacekeeper of the Year.
