Ball Hockey Day
The Sobeys Parking lot in Douglastown was turned into a good old street ball field on Saturday afternoon as members of the Miramichi Police force and friends played ball hockey and enjoyed a BBQ with all proceeds going toward a playground at the Miramichi Emergency Centre for Women.
Organizer Constable Shawn Doucet, a father himself, wanted to give back to the community and help provide some sense of normalcy to kids staying at the Women’s Emergency Shelter by donating funds toward new playground equipment. Volunteers and sponsors from the Miramichi Police Force, Miramichi Fire Fighters, Sobeys, Pita Pit, Tim Horton’s and Mazda participated in the event, which encouraged all children to come out and play and enjoy themselves.
