Two Home Games for T-Wolves this Weekend

Miramichi TimberwolvesWith seven weeks remaining in the MHL regular season and no less than six clubs vying for both division as well as league supremacy, the Miramichi Timberwolves have some key match-ups this weekend.

For the second weekend in a row, two New Brunswick representatives will square off when the Woodstock Slammers (17-16-2-1) visit the Miramichi Timberwolves (24-8-0-3) Saturday night at 7:30 PM. A 5-3 loss to the Slammers last Friday night temporarily dropped the T-Wolves out of first place in the Meek Division. Riley Craft, last week’s first star in the MHL, produced a five point night in Woodstock’s victory. However, a 3-1 win the following night over Dieppe put Miramichi back on top. This will mark only the second time this season the Slammers have ventured to the Miramichi Civic Centre. In the only previous meeting, the hometown T-Wolves doubled Woodstock 6-3.

After hosting one provincial rival on Saturday night, another will make their way to town on Sunday afternoon when the Miramichi Timberwolves play host to the Campbellton Tigers. It’s been a tough season for Troy Ryan’s troops. However, they can boast of the fact that they’ve taken four points from the Timberwolves already this season. Two due to a forfeited game and two in a shootout victory over Miramichi back on December 20th. For the Tigers to attempt the trick again however, they will need a surge of offense. Going into this weekend, the Tigers have scored just four goals in their last four games, while giving up 21. It will be a tall task for Campbellton’s young defensive corps to hold the outstanding Miramichi offense in check. Game time is 3 PM at the Miramichi Civic Centre.
