New Consulting & Design Firm, Breakwater
“Success begins with Planning … Continues with Management.” This is the tagline for a new full service consulting and design firm that opened in February on the Miramichi.
Breakwater Consulting & Design was established through the partnership of Reid Mutch and Dave Colbourne, who together bring over 40 years of experience to their clients.
Reid has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years as everything from a labourer, draftsperson, and field coordinator, to supervisor and project manager on residential and industrial projects.
Reid Mutch
Dave has over 20 years of experience in management and design through a series of roles including draftsman, estimator, designer, project coordinator, site superintendent, and project manager in both the private and public sectors.
Together, they are a strong pair.
Reid’s strengths include planning and design, budgeting and scheduling. He enjoys building a relationship with clients to help them realize their project and interacting with the various contractors to help them better understand the client’s needs.
Dave is a Professional Technologist (PTech). He’s been a member of the New Brunswick Society of Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) since 1992, first as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) and now as a PTech. His strengths include management of financial, schedule and project change, along with procurement development and design.
Both men have strong connections to the Miramichi.
Dave Colbourne
Reid is a Miramichier by birth, now raising his own family here. When he’s not working he can be found enjoying life on the river with his wife and three children. Dave moved to Miramichi in 1992 from Newfoundland and since then enjoys his downtime with his wife, who was born and raised in Miramichi, and their two children.
Their goal at Breakwater Consulting is to develop strong relationships with their clients. They believe in working together and will work with clients from project inception through construction and occupancy of the facility. Breakwater’s services range from design, tender development and administration to construction management for multiple project types, including commercial, industrial, institutional and residential.
