Miramichi Literacy Council
Poetry Contest Winners
The Miramichi Literacy Council (MLC) recently
held a poetry contest inviting all ASD-N students in
grades 6-8 to write and submit an original poem, on any
theme.
There were 92 submissions from middle school
students from across the district and Toby Waye won Miramichi Literacy Council offers free and
first place for the poem, Ode to The Words That be Told. confidential one-to-one adult tutoring in literacy,
Contest judges Kayla Geitzler and Drew Lavigne, the numeracy and life skills. We also partner with local
former and current Poet Laureates of Moncton, partners to provide Cooking to Learn, the International
respectively, were very impressed by the talent Literacy Luncheon and other programs in order to bring
displayed by the students. literacy to more people in our community.
