Nordin History
Nordin is located on the north side of the Miramichi
River, 3.14 km northeast of Newcastle, on the road to
Douglastown. It was named for William Nordin and
had a post office named Nordin 1905-1968. Prior to
1905 it was called Rosebank by Mr. Abrams, a
shipbuilder, who planted rosebushes on the bank beside
his home. In 1866 Rosebank was a farming community
with approximately 15 resident families.
Today it is a thriving neighbourhood, bordering
French Fort Cove, and is home to several businesses,
and an active community recreation centre.
