is also affecting the normal range of birds bringing
them further north.
Other less common sightings of birds in the
Miramichi region this past year include: Scarlet
Tanager, Black-billed Cuckoo, Whip-poor-will,
Virginia Rail, Sandhill Crane, Caspian Tern, Brown
Thrasher, Mockingbird, and Varied Thrush.
An international data base, e-Bird (ebird.org), was
an important reference for this article as were Nature
Miramichi members, Deana, Holly, Kamissa, Mathieu,
Melanie, Pam, Phil and Sonya.
