The Straight Ahead Show: Git-er-Boil'n at the Fredericton Playhouse this Saturday night, April 14th.
No matter where you live in the province there’s plenty of arts, culture and entertainment happening this weekend, close to home or just a short drive away.
It’s ECMA weekend in Moncton with performances happening day and night at venues all over the city, cumulating with the annual Gala Awards Show at Casino NB on Sunday night.
Less than a half hour away in Sackville, Lydia Haywood Munn is hosting a Crafternoon at Strut’s Gallery on Friday. Lil’ Brian and the Zydeco Travellers will heat up George’s Fabulous Roadhouse Friday night, while Sheezer & Camp Radio will take the stage there on Saturday.
The annual Miramichi Home Show has added several new features this year including a Food/Beer/Wine category of exhibitors and vendors. The show runs Friday through Sunday at the Civic Centre in Newcastle. Also in Miramichi you can enjoy a spaghetti supper on Saturday to help raise funds for the Nelson Doyle Dancers trip to Ireland.
Much going on in the capital city this weekend. The Fredericton Convention Centre hosts the Fredericton Women’s Show on Saturday and Sunday featuring all things of practical, spiritual, emotional, educational and creative interest to the ladies. Gallery 78 on Queen Street has a new art exhibit opening on Friday called “Dance!”. And speaking of dance, Ballet Jorgen performs Anastasia at the Playhouse. Wilser’s Room is having a two-day fundraiser for Perth Andover with Ross Neilson. Odd Sundays at Molly’s presents poets Laurence Hutchman & Nick Thran plus an open set and book draw.
Nearby at King’s Landing on Friday night they’re having a traditional French Canadian Evening with Les Tireux d’Roches. And just down the road from Fredericton, the Oromocto United Church is holding a benefit concert in support of a school tour about the Holocaust.
Author Linden MacIntyre is in Saint John this weekend to give a reading from his third novel, “Why Men Lie”. Saturday is Pride of the North: Yellowknife Night at the Imperial Theatre. And on Sunday night the Imperial Theatre will be transformed into Paris’ most thrilling nightclub, the Moulin Rouge, for a spectacular, spectacular fundraising event.
