66th Annual
Miramichi Folksong Festival
by Melanie Ross, Director
Miramichi Folksong Festival
The 66th Annual Miramichi Folksong Festival is
shaping up to be a packed weekend of entertainment for
all ages. Running from Thursday August 3rd to Sunday,
August 7th, this year's festival plans to deliver true
Miramichi culture and tradition with everything from
toe-tapping fiddling to traditional Miramichi and New
Brunswick ballads.
The Grand Opening, A Night at the Miramichi
Folksong Festival, will feature the old songs and singers
represented by our current performers and will give a
taste of the beginnings of the festival. Friday will kick
off with a Miramichi Folksong Workshop, follow with
a Folk Ladies Noon Luncheon, proceed with the
popular Children's Show, and finish off with a Friday
night full of favourite performers and Miramichi music.
Indigenous, French Acadian, and Multicultural
programming will be presented on Saturday by
donation. The evening Pub Night will feature the
homegrown talents of the Beaulieu Family Band, and
the Shadbanger's Ball.
Kicking off Sunday will be a Gospel Breakfast, the
Miramichi Fiddlers and Friends Kitchen Party, and
a Songwriter's Circle hosted by Jason Barry and David
Stone.
