2014 Season In Review
Finally back and on a new improved web page. You will also be able to use twitter from the page and you can access the Miecon Ironmen Facebook page. Ironmen stats have been updated to include he 2014 season.
We will be hosting the 2015 National Championships at Ironmen Field and will be placing information on the site when it becomes available.
The 2014 season ended much sooner than anyone had anticipated. The Miecon Ironmen lost the best of 7 semi-finals in seven games to a very good Moncton Mets team. The Ironmen finished the season in 2nd place in league play.
There were a number of highlights for the season including a trip to Newfoundland for the National Championship tournament.. The Ironmen had a great tournament losing the semi-final to British Columbia by a 1-0 score. Veteran Jon Saunders was named to the tournament all-star team as designated hitter and Dave Barr, a pick up from the Fredericton Royals, was selected all-star outfielder.
JF Neveu showed why he is one of the top pitchers in Canada with a very strong showing at Nationals but the team just couldn’t score.. At home, he was selected as the top right hander in the NB Senior league, while leading the league in wins with 8 and strikeouts with 74.
Robert Gallant was chosen as the league all-star shortstop and was also presented the sportsmanship award by the league. A fine honor indeed.for the young sophomore player.
Orry Cook continues to add to his baseball resume as he was named all -star outfielder, best defensive player and topped the league with 22 stolen bases. Orry is now tied for first with Troy Godfrey for stolen bases in Ironmen history with 77
Rookie Emerson Savage created another Magical Moment at Ironmen Field by tossing a no-hitter at the Saint John Alpines in a 5-0 victory. Emerson is quickly establishing himself as a premiere pitcher in senior baseball circles.
Plans are already under way for next season, including renovations to Ironmen Field
