Sun Shines on the Mighty Miramichi!

The action is back on the Action Corner! Owned and operated by Newcap Radio, 95.9 Sun FM (CHHI-FM), the “Spirit of the Mighty Miramichi”, went live at 202 Pleasant Street on Monday May 6th at 9:59 am with a promise to its listeners that they would play only the hits with local news, local events, and hosts who live, work and play in the Mighty Miramichi.
Under the general management of Dan Gallant, Sun FM’s on-air personalities include a familiar voice to most Miramichiers. Paddy Quinn takes to the airwaves for your afternoon drive home from 2-7 pm weekdays.
“Our parent company, Newcap, is one of Canada’s largest and leading radio companies, so when the opportunity presented itself, it was a no brainer,” Paddy says. “I’ve worked in various markets during my radio career, but to have the chance to go from the ground up with a new station, and to do so right here at home, it was too good to pass up.”
Joining Paddy on-air are Steve and Sara Power who share the same last name but aren’t related. They keep listeners informed, entertained and awake on weekday mornings from 6-10 am during The Power Breakfast. Mel Sampson, who performs double duty as the station’s Program Director, follows The Power Breakfast for the Day Shift. Rounding out the announcer line-up is Conrad Doiron who spends his evenings and weekends with listeners.
Born and raised in Cap-Pele, NB, Conrad studied Radio Communications in Caraquet before moving to Halifax for a year where he worked in radio as a street team member.
“I am now in Miramichi to launch my on air career,” Conrad says. “I’ve always loved Miramichi, every memory I have, be it going for a drive with the family or driving from home to college, Miramichi is always part of it. I’ve always been drawn back to this fabulous part of New Brunswick.”
