Miramichi Celebrates Nutrition Month
March is Nutrition Month across Canada. The theme for the month is “Make wise food choices wherever you go.” The theme reinforces the importance of healthy eating whether you’re at work, making choices for your family at the grocery store, or dining out.
To celebrate the month, dieticians at the Miramichi Regional Health Authority (MRHA) will be holding various educational events for the public and the MRHA staff. An informational display about label reading and grocery shopping will be held March 13 – 17 in the main lobby of the Miramichi Regional Hospital. The display will be continued in the hospital’s View Point Dining Room, 5th floor from March 20-24.
Public information sessions about label reading and grocery shopping will be held, helping individuals learn some easy tips to help make wise food choices in the grocery store. A session in English will be held on March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Highland Theatre of the Miramichi Regional Hospital. A session in French will be held on March 16 at 6 p.m. in the 4th floor conference room at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. A minimum of ten individuals is required for each session. To register or receive further information please call 623-3503.
During the last week of March, health authority employees and physicians will have an opportunity to enter a team and demonstrate their nutritional knowledge by participating in a Who Wants to be a Millionaire Game. The game is based on the popular television program and will focus on nutrition questions. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the most points.
Giv’er Miramichi is about “What’s up, what’s new, what’s happening”. We are focused on building people up, supporting one another and celebrating our successes.
