The 1st Green Leaf Awards at the Green Fair
Greater Miramichi Regional Service Commission held the 1st Green Fair sharing what happens to your garbage and recyclables after it leaves the curb. They took the opportunity to offer the Leaf Awards presented at the Miramichi Exhibition on Wednesday Oct 17th.
This new annual environmental recognition program intends to reward charitable organizations, individuals, and institutions/schools who have made outstanding contributions and whose initiatives have had positive impact on the environment in the Greater Miramichi Region.
The winners: Individual – Marion MacDougall; School – Gretna Green; Organization – Woodmens Museum.

-The staff at Gretna Green serve as sustainability champions to instill life-long environmental awareness in their students |
Organization Catagory – Over the last 3 years the board, the enviromental committee and Museum employees have worked hard to minimize the environmental impact of the facility. |
The Green Fair was open all day and had a large turnout from the schools and local residents. View images of the day long event.

It was a fantastic event. We learned how they recycle used paint and where to buy it, about the new fishing line recycling tubes put up at strawberry marsh and a ton of other things
