Three members of the Miramichi N&J Bantam AAA Twins, along with the president of Miramichi Minor Baseball have captured silver medals at the Canadian National Bantam AAA (U15) Baseball Championships recently held in Summerside, PEI. Brayden Allain, Gehrig Hale, Logan Walsh, and David Hale (Asst. All three Twins players conttributed greatly in the silver medal winning effort. Allain was named an All Star Outfielder for the tournament and compiled a .391 batting average going 9-23 in 7 games during the tourney. Walsh was stellar on the mound in the semi final game as he dominated a powerful Ontario lineup enroute to a 9-1 victory for Team NB. He spun a complete game 2 hitter allowing only 1 unearned run along the way and striking out 4. Hale, despite being injured during the final game still managed to slash 3 hits during the tournament along with a couple walks and saw mound duty vs Quebec in the Round Robin.
Team NB opened the tournament with a 14-3 win over the host PEI squad, then dropped a 12-1 decision to Quebec, before knocking off BC 8-0 and falling by the same 8-0 score to Ontario in their final round robin game. NB then had to face Nova Scotia in a quarterfinal matchup and walked away with a 4-1 victory to put them in the semifinals where Walsh spun his gem.
