Highland Society’s Annual St. Andrew’s Day Banquet Held
The Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi Annual St. Andrew’s Day Banquet was held on Monday November 30th at the Newcastle Lions Club.
Part of the event was the presentation of Long Service medals,which were awarded to Ethel McIvor (20 years), Harry McEachern (20 years), Doris Siddall (20 years), Howie MacEachern (30 years), Wendell Gragan (40 years), Gordon Russell (40 years), Bill Sweezey (40 years), Warren McLaughlin (40 years) and Laurie Black (65 years).
The very special guest speaker was Neil Godsman, a surviving relative of William Davidson. Neil spoke of William Davidson’s family tree, his life in Scotland, ventures to Canada, and his death. Neil was presented with an honorary membership in the order of William Davidson medal and a framed set of Miramichi salmon flies.
