New Art Gallery in Miramichi
There is a new art gallery on Water Street in the Historic Chatham Business District that is creating quite a buzz!
The Artist Kave Gallery & Exhibits features paintings, sea glass art, photography and pottery from local artists. It was started by Ed Duplessie, Bunny Dempsey, and Jerry G. Duplessie to give artists a place to showcase their talent. Bunny says there are hundreds of artists on the river and more contacting them each day to display their work.
All of the artwork is for sale and the organizers have been very impressed by the level of support received from locals and tourists alike. Bunny was quite surprised by the amount of tourists that make up the foot traffic passing by the gallery. He says, “People have been stopping in from Germany, China and all across the country. They purchase pictures of Miramichi so they can take a little piece of it back home with them.”
Artists rent the space for a nominal fee and are obligated to change their display each month so the exhibits are always new. There is currently a waiting list for new artists.
