July has been hot, but it is the timing of that heat that has been the killer.  It actually began the last day of June, and just as the heart of the summer run was scheduled to arrive we had a week of 30C range temperatures. 

Beaubears Island Public Picnic

Building on the success of last year’s picnic during the Tall Ship Festival, the Friends of Beaubears Island, in partnership with le centre communautaire Carrefour Beausoleil, will stage a public picnic on the Island this Saturday, July 28, from 12-4pm. Join the characters of Beaubears Island for an afternoon of entertainment and picnic fare. If you feel inclined, get your photograph taken with the region’s historical figures – a great keepsake for this outstanding event.

Annual Doaktown Fair – August 3rd to August 6th, 2018

The Annual Doaktown Fair will be held from August 3rd to 6th, 2018 and is an old-time country fair features something for everyone to enjoy. Activities include a country jamboree, breakfast at the Doaktown Legion, prize bingo at the catholic church hall, a dance at the Legion and many country fair events at the arena. 
Events at the arena include a touch truck event, petting zoo, pony rides, traditional games, and displays of home baking, crafts and vegetables. Enjoy old-time favourite games such as wooden bottles and cats, and also the top shooter.

Local Champ Jakob Jardine Celebrates 100th Anniversary of War Amps At Seminar

Jakob Jardine, a 11 year old boy from Warwick Settlement, has returned from the War Amps 2018 Atlantic Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The seminar brought together young amputees from across the Atlantic provinces while also marking the 100th Anniversary of The War Amps. 

2018 Bay du Vin Summer Survival

The Menu will be consisting of Ham, Turkey, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Dessert and a Beverage. Admission is $12. a person – eat in or take out and tickets are pre-sold in advance.
