Annual Fire Service Workshop Held
In a continuing effort to improve fire service training in New Brunswick, the annual Fire Service Workshop hosted by the New Brunswick Community College and the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs happened over the weekend. The event was held Friday September 11th and Saturday September 12th at NBCC Miramichi, the Rodd Miramichi River pool, and the Field Training Centre on O’Keefe Road.
Fireman participated in all levels of training exercises from basic to advanced. There were 13 different sessions from those designed to refresh skills in dealing with situations a fireman faces daily to challenging situations a fireman may only encounter once in his or her career. Refreshing old skills while learning new ones helps fire fighters to deal with dangerous situations while keeping themselves and their fellow fire fighters safe.
The sessions included Drown Proofing Bunker skills, School Bus Extrication, Boat Rescue, Fire Incident Reporting System, Basic Fire Investigator, Rapid Intervention Team, Auto Extrication, Flash Over Simulator, Advance Interior Attack, Thermal Imaging, Propane Simulator, Beyond the Book and FF1 log book sign off.
