Miramichi Scottish Festival a Grand Gathering
The annual Miramichi Scottish Festival hosted by the Highland Society of New Brunswick in Miramichi was a grand gathering and celebration on the weekend. The event kicked off with a Candlelight Tartan Dinner on Friday evening at the Riverside Entertainment Centre in Douglastown with music by the Fochabers Fiddlers from Scotland. The William Davidson medal for Merit was presented to Father Leon Creamer, Dorothy Creighton and Manford Wasson.
The celebration continued on Saturday with children’s activities and a Ceilidh on Waterford Green in Chatham, with performances by special guests the Fochabers Fiddlers and a great selection of dancers and entertainers. On Sunday morning a Scottish church service was held at St. Andrews United Church and a family day celebration followed at MacDonald Farm in Bartibog.
