Below is a list of Remembrance Day services happening in the greater Miramichi Region:
Miramichi Legion Branch #10
Nov. 11: 10:40 am, The Royal Canadian Legion Miramichi Branch 10 will hold their annual Remembrance Day Services at the Miramichi Civic Centre. An invitation is extended to all military groups, service agencies, youth organizations, etc. to take part in the service. Anyone that will be on parade is asked to be at the Civic Centre no later than 10:15 am and identify themselves to the Parade Marshall, Ray Kokkonen.
Services begin at 10:40 with the parade following the #315 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron Band into the Civic Centre. Master of Ceremonies will be Peter Murphy; WWII and Korean Veteran, William Burchill will be the reviewing officer; and Mr. Brandon Savage will be the guest speaker. Chatham Legion Branch #3
Nov. 11: 11:00 am, Service at James M. Hill. Parade forms up at 10.30 am with the service beginning at 11 am. A light lunch for a nominal fee (free to those on parade) and entertainment will follow at the Chatham Legion, 304 St Clair St, Chatham.
Upper Miramichi
November 11: 10:40 am. Remembrance Day Service will be at the Legion Normandy Branch No. 78, 6101 Route 8 in Boiestown. Banquet will be at 6 pm – tickets must be ordered at least a week in advance by contacting Diane Munn 469-7218. Orders for wreaths and donations should be given to Bliss Spencer.
Doaktown
November 11: 11 am, Remembrance Day Service at the Legion. Please be seated by 10:45 am.
Blackville
Nov. 10: 10 am. Blackville School Remembrance Day service for the students in the gymnasium. Public is also welcome to attend.
Nov. 11: 10:45am. The Branch #49 Legion-hosted community Remembrance Day service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 10:45 am at Blackville School.
Millerton
Nov. 10: 8:45am. Remembrance Day service at the Millerton School. Laying of wreaths by students and presentations by local veterans.
Sunny Corner
Nov. 11: 2 pm. Remembrance Day service at NSER High School auditorium. Parade participants will form up outside the main entrance at 1:45 pm.
3:30 – 5pm: Roast Beef Dinner at the Sunny Corner Legion Branch #90, 26 Tozer Lane. Followed by musical entertainment downstairs in the games room.
Rogersville
Nov. 11: 9:30 am: Leaving the Legion Branch #38, 1-11127 rue Principale, to march to Saint Francois de Salle Roman Catholic Church. All military groups, service agencies, youth organizations, etc are welcome to join the veterans and Air Cadets in the march.
10 am: Mass at the church
11 am: Remembrance Day Service at the Legion Branch #38
12 noon: Homemade Baked Bean Dinner. Donation of choice with proceeds to the Legion. Presentations by Legion members.
1:30 pm: Penny Sale, profits to support the Air Cadets
4-6 pm: Beef Supper, profits to support the Air Cadets
Tabusintac
Nov. 11: 10:30. Remembrance Day Service at Legion Branch #49, 4689 Rte 11, Tabusintac. A lunch will follow.
Neguac
November 11th: 10 am. Mass at L’eglise St. Bernard (738 rue Principale, Neguac) at 10 am followed by the Remembrance Day service. The names of the veterans for which the wreaths were purchased and the names of the veterans for which donations in memory have been made to the legion will be appointed at the end of the ceremony at the church. After the ceremony, those who want to remove their wreath at the Cenotaph are welcome.
12:30 pm: Dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion (916 rue Principale, Neguac). Tickets $12 for members, $15 for non-members.
2 pm: Social event at the Royal Canadian Legion (916 rue Principale, Neguace) 2-5 pm, with the MCST orchestra. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
