Irish Festival and KPH to partner for FOREVER IRISH!
After the success of their original musical play, “The Spirit of the Irish” at the 2012 Irish Festival, KPH Director Glenn Copeland is proud to announce that the Irish Festival will be partnering with KPH for their 2013 summer theatre arts program, Forever Irish! Participants will explore elements of Irish Culture in song, story, dance and drama, and will conclude with a performance at James M Hill on July 19th.
Both the folks at KPH and the Irish Festival are excited about what this opportunity can mean for local children and youth. Not only will they be involved in the mounting of an original musical play, they will be part of celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Irish Festival.
The program will run from July 8 – 19, with the final week of rehearsal at James M Hill. No previous theatrical experience required, just a desire to learn, make new friends and have fun.
Glenn and Elizabeth would love to hear from businesses that might be interested in subsidizing a child who could not otherwise afford to attend the program.
Since moving to the Miramichi in 2011, the Copelands have been busy designing and facilitating performing arts program in the local community. They have received three Artist-in-Residence grants to do in-school programs, and currently teach theatre arts classes for children and adults, while offering private classes in singing, acting, drumming, keyboard and music composition. They are both professional artists and arts educators with many more decades of experience than they care to mention!
